Portfolio Strategist with Cornerstone Macro
An economist by training, François is widely praised for his differentiated insights into the dynamics of the markets and his unique understanding of the business cycle. Prior to founding Cornerstone, François was the Vice Chairman and Chief Investment Strategist of Wolfe Trahan & Co. Previously, he was Executive Managing Director and Chief Investment Strategist at ISI Group, as well as head of ISI’s Quantitative Research Team. François was formerly with Bear Stearns & Co. where he served as Chief Investment Strategist for four years. Earlier, he worked for Ned Davis Research and the Bank Credit Analyst Research Group.
In 2014, François was voted to Institutional Investor magazine’s All-American Research Team as the #1 Portfolio Strategist, and has been selected as #1 for nine of the past ten years. Since 2010, he has also been ranked among the top analysts for Quantitative Analysis as well. François received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in economics and econometrics from the University of Montreal.
U.S. Economist with Morgan Stanley
Paula Campbell Roberts is an Executive Director of Morgan Stanley and an economist covering the US, leading coverage of the consumer sector. She provides in-depth analysis and research on the spending and balance-sheet dynamics of US households, and forecasts key short-term consumer and sector indicators. Paula joined Morgan Stanley in July 2007 from Bain & Co., where she was a management consultant advising Fortune 500 companies for 5 years. Previously, she worked on the Economics team at KPMG for 3 years. Paula holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Yale University.
Jim DeMasi, CFA
Fixed Income Strategist with Stifel
Jim DeMasi serves as Stifel’s Chief Fixed Income Strategist from the company’s Baltimore, MD office. Jim provides bond market analysis, strategic insight, and portfolio management advice to a wide range of institutional investors, including depositories, insurance companies, money managers, and public funds. He is the primary author of Stifel’s Bond Market Weekly and Alpha Advisor publications. A frequent speaker at investment seminars and conferences, Jim is quoted regularly in the Wall Street Journal and has made several appearances on CNBC, Bloomberg Television, and Fox Business News.
Prior to joining Stifel in 2005, Jim worked as a fixed income strategist for Legg Mason for five years and as a capital markets specialist for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in Washington, DC for thirteen years. His post-graduate education includes the Chartered Financial Analyst program, the Stonier Graduate School of Banking, and the Securities Industry Institute at the Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania. He received a bachelor’s degree in finance from West Virginia University. His professional affiliations include membership in the Baltimore Security Analysts Society and the CFA Institute.
